Good morning, It is hard to believe but the May meeting of the Ajax Garden Club is a week today, Wednesday, May 15th. Sherry Dobson from Durham Master Gardeners will be our speaker on the topic of “Edible Flowers”.
As usual the meeting will be held at the Ajax Legion on Hunt Street and the speaker will start promptly at 7:30. Please arrive with time to get yourself refreshments and display any Show entries your have so we can start on time.

MAY 2024 SHOW SCHEDULE
Class Description
Division I – HORTICULTURAL
Section A – Perennials
- Lamium – 2 stems with flowers, max. 6″.
- Bleeding Heart – 1 stem, any colour.
- Solomon’s Seal – 1 stem.
- Flowering Branch of Shrub/Tree or Vice – 1 stem/branch, max. length 36″.
- Any other perennial.
Section B – Bulbs/Corms/Rhizomes
- Iris – 1 spike, any variety, any colour.
- Narcissus, Single.
- Narcissus, Double.
- Tulips, Single.
- Tulips, Double.
- Tulips, Fancy.
- Allium – 1 stem.
- Any other bulb or corm.
Division II – DESIGN
- Collection of Spring Flowers – 3 different species / 3 same species in one vase .
- Bud and Bloom – an arrangement showing the different stage of garden flower, including a bud and opened blossom.
Division III – PHOTOGRAPHY
- First Signs of Spring. “I Couldn’t Bear To Cut It.” (If you have a flower in the garden too beautiful to cut, share a picture instead)
June Meeting
In addition to this month’s meeting, I want to give a head’s up for the June meeting. The theme of the meeting is “Sweet Social and Share”.
We will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Ajax Garden Club with cake and other treats (the Sweet Social) and have a plant swap amongst members (the Share). If you are dividing garden plants, have taken cuttings of outdoor or indoor plants or have extra plants you started from seed, please set some aside to bring to the meeting on June19th.
